Acupuncture is an ancient method of Chinese
medicine in which solid filiform acupuncture needles are inserted into the skin
at certain places on the body to have a therapeutic effect. There is no drug
injection. Acupuncture’s positive benefits are solely due to the needles.
Acupuncture is used to promote natural
healing, boost mood and vitality, lessen or alleviate pain, and enhance the
function of damaged body parts. It is both safe and effective, and it is
frequently utilized as a viable alternative drugs or even surgery. Acupuncture
is frequently used to provide relief when regular medical therapy has failed or
is not desired.
“I am honoured to integrate Traditional Chinese Medicine wisdom in acupuncture treatments to help people achieve greater health and happiness through life’s challenges”.
– Jianmin
Acupuncture is not covered by OHIP, although it is covered by practically all extended health care plans.
You do not need a doctor’s referral to see an acupuncturist. However, if you have an extended health care plan, your insurer may demand a doctor’s reference before paying for acupuncture sessions. This is why you should seek a recommendation before submitting your claim for reimbursement.
You should expect your initial acupuncture examination and treatment to last around an hour to an hour and a half. All future appointments will last anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half depending on your chosen treatment.
